Bring your still life paintings to life with vibrant watercolours! Learn to use light and shade to give depth and dimension to your work. Explore techniques that will make your compositions glow with rich color and dynamic texture. Transform everyday objects into stunning art.
A 2h pencil and eraser
Watercolour brushes: #8 round, #2 round
Optional – a larger flat wash brush ie. ¾ “
Watercolour Paints, at least student quality such as Van Gogh or Cotman,
or if possible, artist’s quality, ie. Winsor Newton or equivalent.
Small tubes of the following colours:
Phthalo blue
Ultramarine blue
A light, cool yellow ie. lemon or cadmium yellow light
A medium, warm yellow ie. cadmium yellow middle, hansa yellow etc.
A warm red ie. cadmium red light
A magenta or primary red ie. Quinacridone rose, or permanent rose.
Optional colours: burnt sienna, burnt umber, hooker’s green, paynes grey.
A white plastic Watercolour palette
A small sponge
A small pad of light WC paper, ie. Canson 9X12 for exercises and techniques
1 sheet Watercolour paper, ie. Arches 140 lb cold pressed 22 X 30 – cut in two halves. (This will not be needed for the first class, but for later classes)
Optional: a board (16 X 20” or 18 X 24”)
