“Poems are like dreams: in them you put what you don’t know you know.” – Adrienne Rich. This course will introduce participants to the fundamentals of poetry, from traditional forms such as haiku and sonnet to contemporary modes such as slam poetry and song lyrics. Students will write a new poem each week, experimenting with imagery, rhythm, voice, and literary devices. The course will culminate in a final sharing session where participants will present their preferred work aloud.
