This course introduces participants to short fiction, with a focus on short stories, flash fiction, and microfiction. Students will explore how character, conflict, and setting form the core of narrative writing, how structure and scene shape a story, and how audience and intention influence voice and editorial decisions. Each participant will begin a short story draft in the first session and continue developing it over the four weeks, concluding with a completed draft and an introduction to revision and editing techniques.
