Decay and rebirth describes the continuous natural cycle of things breaking down and then beginning anew, seen in ecosystems, spiritual beliefs and art. Artists frequently depict decay and rebirth to symbolize the fragility and resilience of life, the passage of time, and the human condition. Philosophers and spiritual leaders around the globe have explored the cycle of life and death, and rebirth, and it’s inherent beauty. Mythology too, with stories like the phoenix rising from it’s own ashes, have abounded in written and spoken word.
In this show, the artist’s of the Chilliwack Visual Artist’s Association explore this concept through a variety of mediums and wide-ranging interpretations.
