SUMMARY:Ron James - The Noise Between Our Ears
DESCRIPTION:Price:\n$86.75 – All Seats \nDate and Time:\nNovember 2\, 2026 – 7:30 PM \n  \n\n  \nCanada’s #1 stand-up road warrior Ron James\, is in the driver’s seat once again and bound full throttle for the ‘big wide open’ with his new show\, ‘The Noise Between Our Ears’.\nWith a seismic level of socio-political change shifting a reality we long took for granted\, what better way to process the cacophonous overload of stimuli than in the language of laughs. \n‘Fresh out of the wrapping’ content skewers everything from the tyrannical Tangerine Genie south of the border looking to turn us into the 51st state\, to aging Baby Boomers now but twenty years away from roaming ‘the home’ in their Led Zeppelin onesies\, just one more sing a long away from taking a Stairway to Heaven! Alongside these macro issues is a window on the daily trials of a technologically compromised ADHD addled adult\, who came of age in a day when a ‘hash tag’ was something you got after getting too close to the hash knives! Whether getting comedic mileage with classic bits on generational differences in families then and now; teacher terrors of public-school days; hand me-down hockey gear; party hearty camping trips with pals in those ‘bullet proof days of yore’\, there’s something for everybody. ‘Ultimately though\, ‘The Noise Between Our Ears’ sees Ron as the ever struggling ‘Everyman’\, doing his best to make sense of a world off kilter while bedeviled by forces beyond his control\, where airlines constantly lose luggage\, stock portfolios nosedive\, mortality’s the new reality and the barber spends more time trimming your ears than he does your head! \n“Utterly Brilliant” – Ottawa Sun; “a comedic tour de force” – Globe & Mail;  “a unique brand of funny all his own” – Winnipeg Free Press; “fits of helpless laughter” – Halifax Chronicle Herald; “hysterically funny … at the top of his game” – Toronto Star; “gut-busting\, knee-slapping funny” – Ottawa Citizen\, “funniest man in Canada” – Victoria Times-Colonist; “a wheezing\, snorting\, chortling\, gasping night of hilarity” – Edmonton Sun; “fast\, funny and smart” – Montreal Gazette; “simply the best” – Toronto Sun; “thunderous standing ovation” – Saskatoon Star Phoenix. \n16+ Event \n

SUMMARY:Birdy: Hung Dance (Taiwan)
DESCRIPTION:Price:\n$65.00 – Tier 1\n$50.00 – Tier 2\n$35.00 – Tier 3\nMembership program discounts available. \n$15.00 – Student Rate -15 & Under (no membership discount) \nDate and Time:\nNovember 13\, 2026 – 7:30 pm \n  \n\n\n  \nFreedom Has Wings… A powerful contemporary dance rooted in history\, resistance\, and flight.\nBirdy is Hung Dance’s exhilarating call to the wild\, where creatures of a feather move together and fracture apart. Featuring the Ling Zi headpiece\, pheasant tail feathers from traditional Chinese opera symbolizing a warrior’s power\, the work conjures a magpie-inspired vision\, flashing moments of freedom against the cage of history. Drawing from martial arts\, Peking opera\, and cultural symbolism\, the choreography transforms Taiwan’s political and historical complexity into a vivid contemporary dance language. Shifting from tenderness to ferocity\, long feathers extend the body\, at times weapon\, at times whisper\, while dancers flock\, conform\, and resist in a visceral meditation on identity\, control\, and the human desire for freedom. \n  \n\n  \n  \n \nHung Dance website\nHung Dance Facebook\nHung Dance Instagram \n\nHung Dance (Taiwan) \nPresented with community partner Asian-Canadian Special Events Association \nCreatures of a feather dance together in Birdy\, Hung Dance’s call to the wild. \nEmploying a head piece called “Ling Zi” that incorporates pheasant tail feathers worn in traditional Chinese opera to represent warrior’s power and skill\, Birdy offers up a magpie creation\, concretizing bright bursts of freedom against the weighted cage of history. \nFounded in 2017 by choreographer Lai Hung-Chung\, Hung Dance’s choreographic vocabulary is drawn from martial arts\, Peking opera\, and traditional cultural symbols. Through the prism of performance\, Taiwan’s complex history and political status metamorphize into a thrilling new dance language. \nThe calligraphic eloquence of four-feet long feathers moves from gentleness to violence\, transforming into spears\, whips\, and a blade drawn sharply across the throat. Whether extending the body into space\, wriggling in earnest writing\, or offering a gossamer caress\, the feathers function as a form of punctuation\, leading and echoing movement phrases with the expressive vitality of living things. \nAs the dancers flock together in rippling patterns of conformity and divergence\, rituals of behaviour gleaned from the non-human world\, find their choreographic counterparts. Group think meets the defiance of individual identity\, as self-policing roots out any opposition. What emerges in the tightrope struggle is a universal cry for freedom. \n  \n\n\nAdded experience… theatre after dark! \nPresented alongside the November 13 performance of Birdy\, the Uncaged Soirée is a free public gathering that invites the community into an atmospheric celebration of movement\, sound\, flight\, and transformation. \nPost-Show • 8:30 to 10:30 pm \n  \n  \n\n\nPresenting Sponsor: Emil Anderson
