SUMMARY:Stories of Faith and Resistance
DESCRIPTION:Price:\n$12.86 \nDate and Time:\nOctober 25\, 2025 – 7:00 pm \n  \n\n  \nJoin us for an evening of queer cinema\, reflection\, and community connection. \nFeaturing Burcu’s Angels and Pride & Prayer\, these screenings delve into the intersections of faith\, culture\, and queer identity and the tensions that emerge when they collide. Through film\, dialogue\, and shared reflection\, we’ll honour resilience and imagine new possibilities of healing and belonging. The program includes a warm welcome\, introductions\, screenings\, and a facilitated panel conversation\, closing with light refreshments and space for open dialogue. Proceeds support We Are Unbound\, a queer-led\, grassroots community group rooted in equity\, diversity\, and belonging in the Fraser Valley. \nBurcu’s Angels tells the story of a beloved Vancouver vintage boutique that\, for over thirty years\, has been a sanctuary for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. As its matriarch\, Burcu Özdemir\, bids farewell to the store’s latest location\, the film celebrates this space of clothing\, memory\, and chosen family through archival footage and Turkish music. \nPride & Prayer follows Panta on a deeply personal journey of reconciling faith and identity. As they seek connection within the Muslim community\, the film explores the possibility of creating a space that is both devout and queer\, illuminating tensions and the courage to imagine belonging against the odds. \n  \n\n\nChilliwack Independent Film Festival website.

SUMMARY:Fare Thee Well\, Poor Miss Taylor
DESCRIPTION:Price:\n$12 – All Seats \nDate and Time:\nOctober 22\, 2025 – 7:30 pm \n  \n\n  \nStaged Reading.\nIn Fare Thee Well\, Poor Miss Taylor\, the playwright takes the characters and events of Jane Austen’s Emma and compresses them into two real-time hours in a modern Vancouver apartment\, where university student Emma Woodhouse is hosting a moving out party for her longtime roommate Anne Taylor. Things start to fall apart even before the party begins; will Emma’s fragile hubris survive? Will best friend and serial introvert Georgia Knightley stick around to pick up the pieces? This brand new play infuses all the wit and charm of the novel into a whirlwind comedy full of heart. \nAdriel Brandt is a playwright and audiobook narrator from Vancouver\, BC. Adriel is inspired by the framework and scope of classic literature\, and is an avid reader. In 2023\, Adriel’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities was produced by Gallery 7 Theatre in Abbotsford\, shortly after Adriel was seen on stage as Eustace Bassington-Bassington in the madcap comedy Jeeves Intervenes. As a Queer\, disabled artist\, representation is vital to Adriel’s craft\, and Fare Thee Well\, Poor Miss Taylor shows Adriel’s great delight in infusing classic story with modern sensibilities. Next for the stage from Adriel’s pen is a brand new take on the legends of Robin Hood: a swashbuckling comedy full of merry men\, scene-eating villains\, and thinly veiled trans allegory. \n  \nEmma Woodhouse: Mackenzie Lee\nAnne Taylor: Ras Yim\nGeorgia Knightley: Shannon Tauber\nHannah Bates: Alexandra Baird\nHarriet Smith: Aman Sidhu\nPhillip Elton: James Xavier Lam \nRand Weston: Thomas Smith\nJane Fairfax: Lillian Schatteman\nAugust Hawkins: Genevieve Dougan\nWren Churchill: Gabe Kirkley \nNarrator: Adriel Brandt

SUMMARY:Marie Chouinard – Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun and Rite of Spring
DESCRIPTION:Price:\n$49 – Standard Ticket Price\n20% 0ff – Explore the Arts Red Membership Program Rate\n15% 0ff – Joy Years (55+) Membership Program Rate\n10% 0ff – Discovery Membership Program Rate\n$15 – U28 (under 28) Membership Program Rate \nDate and Time:\nFebruary 3\, 2025 – 7:30 pm \n  \n\n  \nPresented with PuSh International Performing Arts Festival \nA powerful and primal performance that blends dance\, music\, and storytelling!\nRite of Spring brings world famous choreographer\, Marie Chouinard to the Chilliwack stage! Don’t miss out on this avant-garde performance that brings music and dance together unlike anything before. \nIn the trajectory of Marie Chouinard\, The Rite of Spring occupies a special place. Choosing to revisit this powerful hymn to life\, the choreographer creates her first work based on a musical score. Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring explores a New World in its own way and marks the entry of dance into modernity. Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun is poetry for the theatre\, as Marie Chouinard reimagines this classic Debussy piece with a new score and her own powerful choreography. Marie Chouinard finds in this avant-garde work an original pulsation in resonance with her own gestures. Far from constraining the rhythm of his dance\, the breath of this powerful score inspires it\, accompanies it\, and energizes it\, both the echo and the musical counterpoint of an organic\, vigorous\, and exalted choreography. \nAdult material and situations – may not be appropriate for all audiences. \n  \n\n  \n \n \nExcerpt LE SACRE DU PRINTEMPS / THE RITE OF SPRING (1993) – Compagnie Marie Chouinard from Compagnie Marie Chouinard on Vimeo. \nMarie Chouinard Website \nPUSH International Performing Arts Festival Website \n\n\n\n\n  \n\nJoin us for a special preshow event in the Centre’s lobby – a modern Black & White affair; dress up in your finest black and white attire to enjoy music and performance activation\, and an art exhibit focusing on the human form!\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event promises an evening of art and elegance\, elevated by YOU!
