SUMMARY:Tom Lavin & The legendary Powder Blues
DESCRIPTION:Price:\n$67.95 – All Seats \nDate and Time: November 21\, 2025 – 7:30 pm \n\n  \n\n  \nTOM LAVIN & THE LEGENDARY POWDER BLUES\nFor over four decades Powder Blues has been Canada’s leading blues band. The mix of swing\, blues\, jazz\, rock & roll and R & B has an appeal so wide that people from seven to seventy swing side by side at a Powder Blues concert. Over the years the band has toured non-stop through Canada\, the United States and overseas\, spreading feel-good music that makes folks dance and shout. \nPowder Blues debut album\, ‘Uncut’\, was ignored by major labels who said there was ‘no market for the blues’. Undiscouraged\, the band sold it off stage and sent it to radio stations whose switchboards lit up with calls asking\, ‘who’s that?’ After selling 30\,000 copies in a few weeks\, the same record labels competed to distribute this ‘non-commercial’ product. To date Powder Blues have sold over a million records worldwide. \nBand highlights include winning Canada’s Juno\, headlining the world-famous Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland\, winning the Blues Foundation Award in Memphis\, Tennessee and touring the US and Europe with legends like Willie Dixon\, John Lee Hooker\, B.B. King\, James Brown\, Albert Collins\, James Cotton and Stevie Ray Vaughn. \nLeader\, Tom Lavin has written many of the band’s best-known songs including ‘Doin’ It Right’ (‘On the Wrong Side of Town’) and ‘Boppin With the Blues’. Born in Chicago where he worked with local bands and blues legends\, Tom moved to Vancouver gigging in the downtown nightclub scene. This led to work as studio musician\, song writer\, band leader\, record producer and film composer. \nTom has won BCMIA awards for ‘Guitarist\, Singer\, Songwriter and Producer of the Year’\, a Juno award for ‘Best New Band’ and the American W.C. Handy award. He has over a dozen gold\, and platinum records for Powder Blues\, Prism\, April Wine\, Long John Baldry\, Amos Garrett\, and many others. \n2024 is the band’s 46th Anniversary. Their more than dozen CD titles and DVD continue to sell world-wide making Tom Lavin & the Legendary Powder Blues one of Canada’s longest-standing musical ambassadors. \n  \n  \n\n \n \nPowder Blues website \n

SUMMARY:Qwalena: The Wild Woman Who Steals Children
DESCRIPTION:Price:\n$15.00 – All Seats \nDate and Time:\nNovember 19\, 2025 – 12:30 pm \n  \n\n  \nIndigenous storyteller Dallas Yellowfly brings “Qwalena: The Wild Woman Who Steals Children” to life in this unique and scary theatrical multimedia storytelling performance.\nThe purpose of this performance is to promote anti-racism\, create awareness of the Indian Act and the intergenerational impacts of Residential Schools while strengthening communities through education. \nIn a dark theatre immersed with echoes of a beating drum\, Yellowfly tells the scary story of a girl who is born different and bullied by kids in her community. She runs away to the forest where a sense of betrayal builds into rage. Over time Qwalena becomes the wild woman who eerily whistles to hide her movements in the forest and steals children who search for her. \nYellowfly later explains that Qwalena is an allegorical creature representing the Indian Agents who stole Indigenous children from their families and forced them into government funded Residential Schools. Yellowfly’s father was one of these children. He vulnerably shares the harrowing story of his father’s life experience and then the intergenerational impacts felt later by his family. The graphic story is truthful and important to share. \nBy blending oral tradition\, multimedia\, mature content and a bit of humour\, Yellowfly hopes to promote an understanding of present day impacts of the Indian Act and how Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island are trying to break the cycles of oppression caused by Residential Schools.

SUMMARY:Fare Thee Well\, Poor Miss Taylor
DESCRIPTION:Price:\n$12 – All Seats \nDate and Time:\nOctober 22\, 2025 – 7:30 pm \n  \n\n  \nStaged Reading.\nIn Fare Thee Well\, Poor Miss Taylor\, the playwright takes the characters and events of Jane Austen’s Emma and compresses them into two real-time hours in a modern Vancouver apartment\, where university student Emma Woodhouse is hosting a moving out party for her longtime roommate Anne Taylor. Things start to fall apart even before the party begins; will Emma’s fragile hubris survive? Will best friend and serial introvert Georgia Knightley stick around to pick up the pieces? This brand new play infuses all the wit and charm of the novel into a whirlwind comedy full of heart. \nAdriel Brandt is a playwright and audiobook narrator from Vancouver\, BC. Adriel is inspired by the framework and scope of classic literature\, and is an avid reader. In 2023\, Adriel’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities was produced by Gallery 7 Theatre in Abbotsford\, shortly after Adriel was seen on stage as Eustace Bassington-Bassington in the madcap comedy Jeeves Intervenes. As a Queer\, disabled artist\, representation is vital to Adriel’s craft\, and Fare Thee Well\, Poor Miss Taylor shows Adriel’s great delight in infusing classic story with modern sensibilities. Next for the stage from Adriel’s pen is a brand new take on the legends of Robin Hood: a swashbuckling comedy full of merry men\, scene-eating villains\, and thinly veiled trans allegory. \n  \nEmma Woodhouse: Mackenzie Lee\nAnne Taylor: Ras Yim\nGeorgia Knightley: Shannon Tauber\nHannah Bates: Alexandra Baird\nHarriet Smith: Aman Sidhu\nPhillip Elton: James Xavier Lam \nRand Weston: Thomas Smith\nJane Fairfax: Lillian Schatteman\nAugust Hawkins: Genevieve Dougan\nWren Churchill: Gabe Kirkley \nNarrator: Adriel Brandt
