The Live Model Drawing Open Studio is composed of a friendly\, welcoming and very dedicated group of creative people. People work independently and at their own level of experience. While no formal instruction is provided\, support and encouragement is given. The open studio format is designed to work progressively from gestures through to longer poses. A variety of male and female models with different body shapes and ages are booked for the Open Studio. Please bring your own materials.

Clay used in open studio must be purchased separately through the Centre Box Office. \nOnly work produced at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre from clay purchased here can be fired in our kilns. These sessions are not designed to accommodate production potters\, nor are they designed for private instruction\, but to allow students to independently develop their skills. Work created during this session will be glazed at any session you are attending. \n  \nFinished pottery pieces Pick-Up Procedure  \nPatrons pieces can be picked up 2-3 weeks after pieces have been glazed. (Pieces can ONLY be picked up during an Open Studio Block\, and not outside of Open Studio times)\nPatrons should bring their own packing material and box to put pieces in\, as packing supplies cannot be guaranteed from the studio. \n  \nUpdates \nEffective immediately\, you will no longer need to register with the box office prior to attending the studio. Instead\, all participants will be required to purchase a drop-in pass to hold their spot\, either in person at box office\, over the phone\, or through our website. \nFor those who hold a monthly or yearly membership\, you will still need to “purchase” a drop-in ticket; however\, this ticket will be discounted to zero during the checkout process. DESCRIPTION:Price:\nFree admission \nDate and Time:\nExhibit – January 2 to February 3\, 2025 \nGallery Hours: Wednesday to Saturday Noon to 5:00 pm \nOpening Reception on January 4\, 2025\, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm \n\n\n  \nArtists Ted Driediger and Lois Klassen collaborate to explore themes and variations in their upcoming joint exhibition “Iterations: Explorations in Cloth and Clay” at the O’Connor Group Art Gallery in the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.\nIn visual art\, as in music\, working within themes and variations offers the artists “playing room” as they revisit an idea\, over and over\, in its various permutations. Reiteration of a concept demonstrates that there is not just one end point to the working out of an idea.  The viewer of these series is invited to participate in the artistic process of exploration and development. \nTed and Lois work in different media\, namely cloth and clay. Multiple possibilities in surface design\, use of colour\, form and shape. are highlighted by this disparity of materials.  Driediger’s sculptural works focus on the idea of community and shelter in a village format with an emphasis on shape\, volume\, and interconnectedness. \nKlassen’s work explores themes of social justice\, grief and loss\, and nostalgia for domestic arts of the past. \n\n\n  \nMedia\nChilliwack Visual Artists Association website \nCVAA Facebook \n
