Clay Creators: Wheel
Date & Time:
Saturdays, October 17- December 12, 2015
For many visual artists, it is not a matter of if you can make something, it is a matter of how. I truly believe that "if there is a will there is a way" and I strive to inspire my students to have the confidence to tackle any project.
I graduated from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 2002 with a Bachelors degree in Visual Art. My focus was dominated by ceramics because I found that it encompassed the widest range of artistic expression. I could sculpt, carve, screen print and paint without changing mediums. I went on to work at the Gallery of BC Ceramics, where I was inspired by all the incredible talent and happily spent my pay checks on hoards of beautiful pieces. I continue to collect ceramics in my travels but as I learned on a flight home from Australia, fourteen hours is a long time to hold a three-tiered cake plate in your lap.
Adult Class: Wheel throwing for beginner pottery students or those wishing to continue to build their skills on the wheel.
Students will be taken through the entire process from creating on the wheel to fishing off their work through glazing and firing. This is an eight week course, with seven weeks of wheel work and one of glazing.
